About Us

Chip, Fox, and Scout (3 of our first 25 rescues!)

"All creatures have the same source as we have. Like us, they derive the life of thought, love, and will from the Creator. Not to hurt our humble brethren is our first duty to them; but to stop there is a complete misapprehension of the intentions of Providence. We have a higher mission. God wishes that we should succour them whenever they require it."
--St Francis

How we started...

"I did not intend to bring home 25 dogs from the animal shelter on July 5, 2012, much less start an animal rescue...but the puppies chose us. I refused to leave the shelter that day unless we took home every single puppy in the shelter. So that's exactly what I did!;) I rescued 21 puppies and 4 adult dogs on July 5, 2012. God spoke to me that day; and I listened to him and he guided me. This was a calling for me. I got my sweet mother on board and we became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to being the voice for the voiceless. I added some really wonderful kind hearted woman to our board, now we are the 4L4J team. We save animals lives, advocate their welfare & rights, spread awareness, encourage adoptions, and promote spay/neuter. Founding 4Legs4Justice Animal Advocate and Rescue has been one of the best things we have ever done in our lives. We have passion in what we do, and we believe in our missions! 👯🐶❤️ Thank you for the support! Together we can save so many." (said by our founder, Lindsay Ghee)

Thank you to all of our partners, mentors, supporters, followers, donors, sponsors, cross-posters, and volunteers! You all are so wonderful, we cannot thank each of you enough. It takes a team and network of kind people to get animals to forever safety. We love y'all!

Love, our rescue team:

Lindsay Ghee, Taylor Freeman, Brenda Ghee, and Cally Donahue

Us with only a few of our biggest supporters...our family!

What we do:

We are a 501(c)3 no-kill organization dedicated to combating the national overpopulation of pets by eliminating the euthanasia of animals and animal suffering through hands-on rescue work, dedication to spay/neuter, education and awareness.

  • Our goal is to provide full veterinary car and temporary shelter to stray, abandoned, abused, and homeless animals for the purpose of finding them a loving "forever home."
  • We have rescued and rehomed over 1000 dogs and hundreds of other animals to date. We have a large partner and affiliate network across the United States and Canada, whom we work together to find dogs wonderful homes in state or in our partner's home state.
  • The Millions of adoptable animals that are killed each year in the U.S. are our driving force. We are passionate about creating a change in our community, state, country, and world!
  • As rescuer's we know that every time we save an animal we have greatly impacted TWO lives, the life of the homeless animal as well as the life of the human who adopts him/her! "Who Rescued Who?"

Update: As of May 2018, we have found homes for EACH of our Harvey dogs!! Thanks to everyone's help and our rescue partners all over the U.S.!

Original Post, September 2017:

For over a week we have been working with Texas and Florida to save animals who have been displaced by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. We are currently functioning as a crisis emergency rescue relief organization to take in these animals with our partner Greater Birmingham Humane Society. We will medically vet each dog, love each one, provide shelter, all needs, and prepare them for adoption into forever homes!

  • As a nation and as an animal rescue we believe we have a duty to step up to assist our neighboring states not only during disasters, but most definitely during a crisis!
  • Sadly, many animals and humans will never reunite with one another. But many of these pets will be adopted by disaster affected humans to offer comfort and companionship. We believe in the healing powers of a pet.

Thanks to Vapor Wake K9 at McClellan in Anniston, AL and the City of Anniston, we have secured a large kenneled dog facility that will house 40 of these displaced animals at a time. We will be on a rotating routine of dogs coming into the facility and then being adopted (or reunited)...we hope to reach over 100 displaced dogs that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey and Irma!

  • With generous donors and supporters, we will make a difference in these animals lives (and their new adopters lives) together!!
  • Our Budget is estimated to be $13,000 per month
